LBA's FieldSense ProHD™ personal RF safety monitors are an effective and economical means to monitor the strength of electromagnetic (RF) fields from wireless cell phone towers, microwave ovens, television stations, and other common workplace RF sources between 350 and 2,700 MHz. The Personal RF Monitor is essential RF safety equipment in complying with FCC, OSHA, and other workplace rf safety requirements.

FieldSense ProHD™ personal RF safety monitors give you audio and visual warning when the IEEE and ICNIRP limit is exceeded on your body. It immediately alerts you to high frequency radiation fields that could be a health hazard. FieldSense ProHD™ gives an approximate value of RF strength to help you determine how long you can stay in the radiation field.

Extremely convenient to wear and use, the FieldSense ProHD™ personal RF safety monitor is the size of a cell phone and weighs under 3 ounces! It's smaller and much lighter than competing units!

Using Your FieldSense ProHD™ Personal RF Monitor

Wearing Your Monitor
The FieldSense ProHD™ personal RF monitor should be worn on the belt and harness carry pouch. Position the Personal Monitor clear of metallic objects, such as a tool pouch. The FieldSense ProHD™ personal RF monitor should not be used with an RF protective suit.

Preparation for Use
To start using FieldSense ProHD™ personal RF protection, simply press the single mode button for 1.5 seconds, an automatic battery-functional test is performed, and the alarm is set to "Measure" mode.  That's all there is to it!

Interpreting Your Monitor
The
FieldSense ProHD™
personal RF monitor uses a simple set of audible and visual alarms to alert you to dangerous radio frequency (RF) fields. Seven LED's indicate MPE exposure from 5 to 250%, and increasing RF fields are also indicated by an increasing audio alarm rate.

When FieldSense ProHD™ RF radiation monitor gives an alarm, it means that your RF exposure may be approaching or above FCC, OSHA, or ICNIRP limits. When this occurs, you should proceed in accordance with your company’s RF safety plan or consult the appropriate workplace authority.

Setting Alarm / Function Features
FieldSense ProHD™ has two function modes.  The default function is the "Measure" mode.  It occurs on start up and is intended for a quick evaluation of RF exposure conditions.  To save battery life, the unit automatically turns "Off" after 10 minutes.  For prolonged use while in an area of RF concern, the unit should be set to the "Monitor" mode.  This is done while in Measure mode by pressing the Mode button one more time.

An additional benefit of the Monitor mode is that the FieldSense ProHD™ may be attached to an antenna or other RF emitter using the supplied belt and holder.  This permits it to monitor such devices for indavertent activation while in a "lock-out-tag-out" condition.

The World Health Organization has established health hazard limits that are accepted in most parts of the world as standards. In the United States, these are standards of the FCC and OSHA. The radiofrequency exposure, Maximum Permissible Exposure (MPE) limits are divided into two levels, one for “General Public” use and one for persons trained to work in high frequency radiation areas, referred to as “Occupational”.  The FieldSense ProHD™ is designed to operate with the "occupational" MPE limits only.  Another version of the monitors is available from LBA if "General Public" level monitoring is required.

Maintaining Your Monitor
No routine maintenance is needed to keep your
FieldSense ProHD™
personal RF monitor in good order! Just take common sense measures to keep it clean, dry, and secure. An initial calibration certificate is supplied with the monitor.  Calibration services are available from LBA.  Calibration is recommended every year in hard use environments, and every two years in benign use environments.
